Network Technician (Information Technology Specialist I) (full-time)

Position Area:

Staff

Qualifications Required:

* Extensive knowledge of computer hardware and software.

* Extensive knowledge of server hardware and operating systems.

* Extensive knowledge of network protocols, routing, switching and systems operations.

* Experience installing and maintaining network infrastructure cable (copper and fiber).

* Experience configuring, troubleshooting and maintaining Cisco and Palo Alto (or other) network hardware and software and computer hardware and software.

* Effective communication skills, both oral and written.

* Excellent organizational skills.

* Knowledge of security related programs, including but not limited to, risk management, vulnerability management, and incident response.

* Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.

* Ability to identify and resolve complex technical issues.

* Related work experience in IT hardware and software support.

* Valid driver's license.

Physical Requirements:

* Ability to safely climb and perform work from ladders or lifts.
* Ability to lift 50 pounds.

Additional Considerations:

The following factors may also be given consideration:

* Skill in creating applications and scripts to automate network configuration and monitoring.

* Knowledge of open source software for network automation, configuration, and monitoring.

Duties:

Duties of the Network Technician consist of the following:

* Securely configure, document, install, troubleshoot, and maintain various network devices and services including but not limited to, routers, switches, firewalls, cameras, phones, QoS, wireless controllers, wireless AP's, VPN, servers, storage systems, backup systems, and UPS units.

* Perform data backups, data restore, and disaster recovery.

* Configure, maintain, and operate campus video surveillance system.

* Design, document, install, and maintain campus network cable plant.

* Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary:

Pay Band 4 starting at $41,655

January 2024
